 Facebook's iPad app to launch next week

Facebook will launch its long-awaited iPad app at Apple’s iPhone 5 launch event on October 4th. In addition to the iPad app, Facebook is also expected to release a revamped version of its iPhone app and may unveil an HTML5-based mobile app marketplace.

Google+ lets you share your "Circles"

Google+ has made it easy to “share” your Circles with friends today, by enabling an option to send other users a list of Circle members on your Circles page. Users who want to “share” the contents of their meticulously curated Circles can now click on the Share button as well as Edit and Delete in the Circles options menu and then select the Google+ user or users they want to share the Circle with.

Google+ Button now shares directly to Google+

Google has upgraded the +1 button with several new features, including the ability to directly share a webpage to Google+. In the past, clicking the +1 button only shared content to a tab on a user’s Google+ profile. This is in contrast to the Facebook Like button, which posts an article on a user’s Facebook wall. Now that Google has its own social network, the search giant can match Facebook’s button functionality.

Foursquare Privatises Homes

This week Foursquare have taken a few more steps to make homes more private. Only the person who created the ‘home’ and their friends can see the address on the venue page. Also, they have added a new ‘Report a problem’ link, which allows users to tell Foursquare that a place is their home.

Facebook's new feature allows you to approve tagged photos or posts before they appear in your news feed or your wall. Out of all of the new privacy settings, this is the one feature that you really must turn on as soon as it becomes available to you.

Twitter will have more promoted tweets











Twitter has started putting promoted tweets in users’ timelines this summer, but was careful to note that you would only see them if you followed the brand. It was revealed this week that everyone would start to see promoted tweets in their timeline, regardless of how they’re accessing Twitter

Facebook begins autogrouping friends



Facebook is beginning to rolling out “Smart Lists” to selected users which, as the name implies, intelligently groups certain obvious groups of friends into pre-packaged lists. This could be Facebook's response to the Google+ circles.

According to Twitter’s global PR team, Beyonce’s baby reveal  gave Twitter a record bump of 8,868 tweets per second. That means that Beyonce’s VMA moment received more mentions per second than the Women’s World Cup, Japan’s New Year or Osama bin Laden’s death.

Google+ and Facebook Roll Out Google Chrome Extensions


On Wednesday Google released the Google +1 Button extension allowing you to +1 a web page anywhere on the web. Browsers now no longer have to rely on a site to implement the +1 Button. Facebook followed shortly after as they rolled out their Like Button extension, that according to Google is indeed built by Facebook itself.

Facebook Music Service Coming At F8


Facebook has bandied a variety of music-related ideas around over the years and in 2008 it was poised to launch a streaming music of some sort in collaboration with a single music company such as Lala. Now at F8 there is going to be an announcement about their new music service.
